Hordere

Hordere
Lit. 'the hoarder, keeper of the hoard', i.e. the king's treasurer. He had charge of the collection of monies and was based in Winchester, where AS kings kept their treasury. Monasteries also had their hoarder or storekeeper, known in Latin as hordaria. -
